As to what I'm doing now, I moved to Flagstaff last summer for the nursing program at Northern Arizona University, which is giving me a free ride. Ever since that summer in Paonia I've been hooked on the southwest and the Rocky Mountains. I was lucky enough to take over a lease on a big old house downtown and I bike everywhere. I spent most of my free time rock climbing, which is everywhere here in Flagstaff. I dumpster dive most of my food and have a large composting system going to turn what we don't eat (boxes and boxes of over ripe produce) into compost for the summer garden. I'm concerned that climate change is robbing us of a livable future. The actions of Tim DeChristopher (bidder 70) have been very inspiring to me, and am working to organize a group of people to go and attend his trial in Salt Lake City this February.

I am living in Madison, WI with Nate and 4 other friends in a sweet little house with a garden.  I spend my days taking care of toddlers and preschoolers, exploring the world with them, and being a resource for families who want to unschool their children.  I am learning Chinese with my Taiwanese friend, as I help her with her English through our weekly conversations.  I am also organizing a project called the Madison Free School, a network of friends and neighbors who offer drop-in classes on all topics, offered for free in our homes and public spaces:www.madisonfreeschool.wordpress.com

Nate currently lives with his 5 lovely housemates in a house in Madison, WI.  He enjoys biking and working on bikes, fixing and taking apart computers, carpentry projects, traveling around the mid-west, and volunteering at a local coffee roaster.  He is also a deer hunter, swimmer, runner, and plant nurturer.

For money, he works at Nature's Bakery, an organic whole grain bakery cooperative, just a few blocks from his home.  (www.naturesbakery.coop).  At the bakery he spends most of his time on the production floor, but also does marketing for the bakery, which includes the creation and management of the website, keeping the bakery current with Madison publishings relating to the food movement, and keeping in touch with customers.

Nate also attends classes for Madison's newly created free school, which has monthly potlucks at his home.  So far he has attended creative writing and hide tanning courses.  He hopes to someday teach or take classes in re-curve bow archery.

Lastly, Nate is apprenticing with a spiritual mentor who has trained with Peruvian shamans, and has planned a trip to visit Peru and some of it's many sacred sites this coming summer.

Melissa is living in a small mountain town in California where she shares a funky old cabin with her brother. In January she finished her ninth short film, Coyote Hunt, which was sponsored by a grant from the Idyllwild Film Festival.

When not working on film sets, she is writing feature-length screenplays, concocting elaborate meals in her kitchen, biking, camping, and hanging out at the beach. She also works at a local preschool, doing art with the kids, as well as eating snacks and playing in the sandbox.

Settling into a new city feels like traveling to a different country.  Berkeley, California and the surrounding Bay Area, is more like several countries all crammed into one.  My time is mostly occupied building a strawbale estate on a vineyard in the central valley.  I camp out for the week, watch the sun rise as I strap on my tool belt and take a few moments at the end of the day to spot bird activity as the sun recedes below the hills.  Weekends are spent with my cherished partner, Kate, exploring the cultural mosaic of the city and making new friends.
