Many of us long for a healthier planet — and a happier life. But where do we find the courage and skills to jump off the daily treadmill? And more importantly, where do we land?

The High Desert Center’s unique college-level program tackles the real-life challenges of sustainability. We help students live according to their values, build a livelihood, balance their finances and be vital members of their communities.

In partnership with the many sustainability experts and organizations in western Colorado’s beautiful North Fork Valley, we help students learn the skills of sustainable living, including alternative building techniques, organic farming and permaculture, wind and solar power installation, and business and entrepreneurial expertise. Through student projects and enterprises, our hands-on curriculum both benefits from and gives back to our home community.
